We will spend all day exploring the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape - a castle complex which used to belong to the family of Lichtenstein. Under the care of this single family, the swampy area was transformed into a well thought out combination of castles and parks, sometimes also called "The Garden of Europe" or "The Garden Paradise". We will have a chance to visit this place, which combines both indigenous and exotic natural elements in order to create an outstanding work of human creativity. Since the complex is very large, bike is the recommended mode of transportation allowing you to experience this exceptional cultural site along with a good workout. Be it a botanical garden, wine tasting of the awarded best wines of Czech republic in Chateau wine cellar in Valtice or visit of one of many salems makes this day highlight of the whole tour!

This day will start off by a bike ride through the peaceful region of the Dyje River towards the Nove Mlyny Water Dam. A small town of Pavlov will be our first stop. This town is "guarded" by Devin - a castle ruin which is located above the town. While some will be enjoying a break in a local restaurant, others can climb up to the ruins to enjoy an amazing view. After that, we will continue through the village of Dolni Vestonice, which is very well known due to a rare archeological find of a small woman statue 23 000 years old! To get to our final destination of the day - the town of Mikulov - we will ride through the vineyard region and around the Palava Hills. Mikulov will welcome us with its Baroque castle with a wine museum, an old synagogue, Jewish cemetery and a local curiosity - a giant wine cask.
Day 5 - Mikulov - Laa an der Thaya
Distance: 59 km / 37 miles
This day will be our first one in Austria. We will get on the wine bike path, which bears the name after the most famous wine cultivar - it is called the Veltlinska Bike Path. This path will take us through a slightly hilly terrain and, from the distance, we will be called by the Falkenstein castle ruins, which is the dominant of the entire region. Adjunct vineyards region is one the most beautiful in this area. From the castle ruins, we will continue through the Herrnbaumgarten Village, which is famous for its poetic museum of non-senses, all the way to wine museum in Poysdorf, where you will have a chance to learn everything you did not know about wine so far! After passing the Staatz castle ruins, we will be already in our final destination for the day - a spa town of Laa an der Thaya. In Retz, we will have a chance to admire not only an interesting main square, but primarily 20 km-long labyrinth of wine cellars, which holds five million liters of this godly drink! Just north of Retz, we will pass an old windmill and then we will return back to the Czech Republic. A beautifully painted wine cellar, well-preserved fortification from World War II and many other small sights will be on our "to visit list" in the center of this wine region - the town of Znojmo.
